This photo features the Colorado State flower: the Columbine. The columbine grows wild in high altitude areas of Colorado and features delicate blue-purple petals with a white trumpet in the center of the flower. This bloom was found as part of a columbine bush near the top of Middle Mountain near Vallecito, Colorado where it grew largely undisturbed. A flower so tough, yet beautiful, embodies all that Colorado stands for- it's no wonder it's been named the State flower!
